Description
I'm trying to run Sherpa 1.2.3 and 1.3.0 on Mac OS X 10.6.7. I configured Sherpa with no special flags (just --prefix), it compiled correctly, and I'm running it on the Tevatron_WJets example. It crashes straight away with the following message:
Sherpa(27863) malloc: * error for object 0x1016eab20: pointer being freed was not allocated * set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug
Exception_Handler::SignalHandler: Signal (6) caught.
Cannot continue.
Exception_Handler::Terminate(): Pre-crash status saved to '/Users/guyg/hep-simulation/SHERPA-MC-1.2.3/Examples/Tevatron_WJets/StatusThu_May5_03-08-15_2011'. Exception_Handler::Exit: Exiting Sherpa with code (2)
I'm attaching the Status_... directory and the parameters file from the example; let me know if you need anything else.

I had the same problem but got around it with the following steps:
1.) download the complete, consistent set of compilers (gcc, g++, gfortran) from HPC 2.) in /SHERPA-MC-1.3.0/AddOns/Analysis/Scripts/Makefile.in and Makefile.am comment out the -rdynamic lines. 3.) ./configure, with CC, FC, and CXX flags all set to their respective HPC version compilers 4.) make and make install

Dear Guy, sorry for the delay in getting back to this. Could you please try one of our newer Sherpa versions? If the issue is still present there, please open a new ticket.

I switched to running Sherpa on Linux a long time ago, so this is no longer a problem for me.
