#221 closed question (duplicate)

Running SHERPA+Rivet as installed at CERN fails?

Reported by: Generic User (don't modify these fields) Owned by: support@sherpa-mc.de
Priority: major Milestone:
Component: Unknown Version: 1.3.1
Keywords: Rivet Cc: christoph.pahl@cern.ch

Description

I'm working at CERN with lxplus using the installed Sherpa system. I have a link in my home directors, ~/Sherpa -> /afs/cern.ch/sw/lcg/external/MCGenerators_hepmc2.06.05/sherpa/1.3.1/x86_64-slc5-gcc43-opt/bin/Sherpa

I copied the directory /afs/cern.ch/sw/lcg/external/MCGenerators_hepmc2.06.05/sherpa/1.3.1/x86_64-slc5-gcc43-opt/share/SHERPA-MC/Examples/LEP91 in my home directors, and augmented Run.dat (attached) by a Rivet analysis section. The Rivet analysis OPAL_2004_S6132243 is an event shape analysis I'm interested in.

Running

pahl2@lxplus442:~/LEP91$ ~/Sherpa ANALYSIS=Rivet

gives the attached file ~/LEP91/Analysis.aida .

I cannot do anything with this file: 1) It is an .xml file, but not zipped, as .aida files usually are. Ok, I can do this myself. 2) The .xml file looks strange, the histograms seem to lack sensible titles (compared somewhat to other .aida files). 3) I tried to read in this file, using two different systems (JAS3 und jhepwork). This doesn't work, giving the message "Error opening file".

I also tried sherpa version 1.3.1.2 and/or Rivet analysis OPAL_2001_S4553896 and/or Sherpa example Tevatron_QCD with Rivet analyses D0_2008_S7662670 CDF_2007_S7057202 D0_2004_S5992206 CDF_2008_S7828950, but never got an .aida file which was usable.
