Description (last modified by Frank Siegert)

Hi Sherpa Team,

I have just tried to generate Z + 0,1,2,3,4 jets events in Sherpa-1.0.11 but when Sherpa generates its libraries it complains with this error:

In String_Handler::Complete : this may take some time.... Single_Process::CheckLibraries : Looking for a suitable library. This may take some time. Sherpa: throws std::exception St9exception ... Exception_Handler::GenerateStackTrace(..): Generating stack trace (adapted from ROOT version 3.10) {

Actually when i generate Z + 0,1,2,3 jets i am able to get convenient hepmc ouput and everythings is ok but the library in case "P2_6" complains one channel and it gives an error.

Best

Hi Altan,

I believe that Z + 4 jets is quite memory consuming (> 1GB). Can you make sure that you are not simply running out of memory?

Otherwise, can you send us a tarball of your setup files? Either attach them to this bug report or send them to support@sherpa-mc.de .

Cheers, Frank

PS: Is there any reason to stay anonymous, or do we have to improve our bug filing interface to make it clearer?

Hi Frank,

I think that it is failed due to the quite memory consuming as you said. I also attached tar file but the problems is clear due to the memory consuming. I have not succeed to generate Z+4jets up to now in our cluster and also my local computer which has really good configuration. Do you have a plan to get over this problem (big library) to get succesful generation.

All the best

Altan

Hi Altan,

thanks for the feedback. Yes, there are plans for avoiding the big libraries for final states with multiple particles. But it is not ready yet, and will take a couple of months still. Whenever it is ready and released, you will be notified through our announcement mailing list.

I am closing this bug report now, but we will look into report #11, which was just opened about the same process (Z+4j) crashing although not running out of memory.

Cheers, Frank
